 BRINGING COMMONSENSE TO BRUSSELS

News from David Sumberg MEP

11/06/2003

North West pays heavy price for Labour's Euro indecision

North West families and businesses have been horrendously let down by Labour's announcement it is to delay making a decision on joining the Euro.

The last thing the North West needs is more years of economic uncertainty. The region is already suffering under the massive burden of high taxes and manufacturing decline. More dithering over the Euro will only increase the threat to jobs, business, mortgages and savings. And the cause of this mess? Gordon Brown and Tony Blair. The two are warring against each other clattering round Westminster like a two headed pantomine horse. Their pathetic backstabbing has hamstrung the Government which is now utterly clueless on how to lead the country on the Euro.

Gordon Brown should have called a referendum and let the people of Britain decide on the Euro. I believe we would have thrown it out - end of the story. I predict now that this is beginning of the end for Labour. The tragedy is Labour is wrecking our economy as well as itself.
